St Albans embraces good food and drink, with a host of eateries offering food from every corner of the globe. St Albans is also the home of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale and has many "real ale" pubs, including ancient hostelries, and holds a major a beer festival each year. As well as the bi-weekly St Albans Market, there are monthly farmers markets around the district which showcase the excellent local produce available. The annual St Albans and Harpenden Food and Drink Festival also celebrates the vibrant local food scene with a range of events and an outdoor finale.

St Albans Food & Drink Festival 2017

Wednesday 27th September to Saturday 7th October The St Albans Food & Drink Festival will return this autumn to showcase the fantastic range of food, drink and produce available throughout St Albans District. With so many excellent eateries providing fabulous food and delightful drinking holes, the festival is a great time to try something new or different. CAMRA Beer Festival runs 27–30 September, St Albans Street Feastival is on 1 October, and the Food & Drink Awards will be revealed at Sopwell House Hotel on Monday 2 October followed by a week of celebratory events in and around our district.

Restaurants

St Albans has a vast range of restaurants to suit every taste and budget. From AA Rosette and Good Food Guide listed restaurants, to small, cosy restaurants tucked away from the bustling main areas. As well as Modern British food, you can enjoy cuisine from around the world - French, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Moroccan, Japanese, Lebanese and more besides.

Cafés

There are dozens of cafés around the city and district, including many independent businesses, offering a tempting range of cakes and treats. Take a break from shopping or sightseeing to enjoy a delicious lunch, aromatic coffee or indulgent hot chocolate.

Food Events and Farmers Markets

Farmers Markets take place around the district each month, in St Albans and Harpenden, where you can buy delicious local produce. To celebrate the fantastic range of food and drink that the district has to offer, every autumn you can enjoy the St Albans CAMRA Beer Festival, and the St Albans Food and Drink Festival.
