Clarence Park

A 25 acre park located in the heart of the city divided into two distinct compartments: a formal park, including rose and flower beds, extensive tree and shrub planting, the Aberdeen granite drinking fountain and the park-keeper's lodge, and a recreation ground with sports facilities such as, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Bowls and Hockey. The park has held a Green Flag since 2005.

The formal park covers an area of approximately 3.6 hectares (9 acres), and includes a wide range of features that still exist from the original park. These include rose and flower beds, extensive tree and shrub planting, the Aberdeen granite drinking fountain and the park-keeper's lodge. Only the wood and heather thatched bandstand has been lost from the original park.

The recreation ground compartment, which covers an area of approximately 6.4 hectares (16 acres), is still in extensive use and provides a number of sports facilities such as, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Bowls and Hockey.

In 2005 Clarence Park was successfully awarded a Green Flag on its first attempt, and has retained the award every subsequent year to date. In addition, in 2007 the park was also awarded a Green Heritage award.

The park is located in the heart of St Albans and is a short walk from the city's historic centre in a mature suburban setting.  The park has a car park with with a number of disabled parking spaces.

St Albans City Railway Station is a 5 minute walk from the park. In addition, there are a number of bus services (300-301 and 602) which run to and from the city centre via Hatfield Road.

There is a small car park located in the park and is accessed via the Parks main entrance off Clarence Road.
