Christmas in St Albans

Christmas is a wonderful time to visit St Albans so don’t just leave it for the summer! The Christmas Lights Switch-on kicks off the Christmas spirit on Sunday 16th November 2014, with music and entertainment all afternoon before the lights are switched on at 17:30. Take a break from your last minute Christmas shopping and enjoy the ‘Carols on the Hour’ event in the Cathedral on Saturday 20th December between 11:00 to 16:00.

Christmas Lights Switch On events Throughout December there are festivities and celebrations such as Christmas Markets and carol singing under St Albans’s fabulous Christmas lights. Around the District Harpenden, Southdown, Wheathampstead and London Colney all have their own pretty Christmas lights. Harpenden’s Christmas Carnival, which takes place this year on Sunday 23rd November 2013, is another not to be missed event to get you in the Christmas spirit, complete with funfair, Christmas Market and mulled wine. Christmas Market As well as the regular Wednesday and Saturday markets, there will be a special German inspired Christmas Market next to St Albans Cathedral and in Vintry Garden. The Christmas Market will run from 27th November to 21st December. More details can be found online here.
