There are loads of things to do for families with kids of all ages. This guide has some great ideas so whatever the weather it will be child’s play keeping the little ones entertained!

Rain won’t stop play here and soft play for all ages is on offer at DJ’s Play Jungle, Cotlandswick Leisure Centre and Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre. Kids will also have an adventure at Get Wild! in The Galleria Outlet Shopping Centre with its’ assortment of ropes, slides, and tunnels.

The cinema is another great wet-weather option so why not try The Odyssey, a cool art deco style picture house which offers an eclectic mix of movies.
Creative kids will love Pots of Art where they can make their own colourful pottery masterpiece or build a unique teddy to take home.
Action Plan

For an action-packed day head to Willows Activity Farm where there’s a daily event programme including tractor rides, farmyard petting, indoor and outdoor play, children’s shows and funfair rides.
Verulamium Park offers lots of fun for the whole family. Apart from paths to walk, scoot or cycle there’s a Roman themed children’s playground, football pitches, outdoor gym, seasonal fun fair and Rockin’ Romans Golf which boasts trampolines and a 9-hole mini golf course.

Kids with a head for heights can try the climbing wall at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre. This is a great activity for all ages, so adults can have a go too!
If you’ve brought the bikes and your kids are fearless, head to the BMX track at Marlborough Pavilion Open Space where they can test their nerve on the daring course.
Museum Amusements

The wonders of everyday Roman life are made fun at Verulamium Museum. There’s a hands-on discovery area, free activity sheets and a dressing up box, it’s the perfect mix of learn and play.
Kids can sit in the Judge’s chair at St Albans Museum + Gallery or stand as the accused in the restored courtroom! This Museum has lots of family events, check before you visit and book tickets in advance.
At the de Havilland Aircraft Museum kids can get close and climb into most of the aircraft on display while staff will recount exciting stories about these amazing planes.
In the Hood

Around the district you’ll find loads more things to do. Kids will love exploring the woodland trails and gardens at Hatfield House and the Coach House Kitchen is the perfect lunch stop.

The grounds of Knebworth House are home to an exciting Dinosaur Trail with 72 life-sized dinosaurs and pre-historic creatures, plus Fort Knebworth Adventure Playground features drop slides, swings, zip wire, water play and loads more.
Heartwood Forest ancient woodland in Sandridge is great for building dens, a game of hide–and–seek and a relaxing picnic.
