The Feastival Returns to St Albans

After what feels like an awfully long time the festival will return the September with the usual blend of fantastic food and family fun. Street entertainment, music galore, cooking demonstrations, Oaklands farm, craft, art activities, stalls, and much more besides.

Artisan Alley

Introducing the finest food and drink artisan producers in Hertfordshire.

From locally brewed beer to the tastiest cookies in town – find between the O2 and WHSmiths!

Traders

Over 70 food and drink traders from across Hertfordshire join us to prepare you some delicious food and tantalising drinks to enjoy all day with your friends and family.

The Beach!

Enjoy some Godrey’s Fish & Chips at our street beach with a cocktail from the Poppycock Beach Bar!

Take a seat it the deckchairs and feel the sand in your toes. If you fancy why not take a photo in our giant deck chair or find the giant bucket and spade!

Victorian Cooking

Learn how they made bread and butter in Victorian times.

See how their kitchens looked, what they wore and ask them about what they are making!

 

Cookery Theatre

Inspiring demonstration from local chef and food experts.

  • 12:15 – Andre Lussmann of Lussmann’s Restaurants
  • 13:00 – TV chef Jon Watts and Stacey Turner of mental health charity It’s OK to Say talk mental health and food while making truffled chicken Milanese with black truffle
  • 13:45 – Shahnaaz Ayub, author of Perfectly Easy Indian Food, will make tandoori chicken and saag paneer
  • 14:30 – TV chef Jon Watts is back to make porcini risotto with pan-fried mushrooms
  • 15:15 – Head chef Ganga Dutt and Sameer from Infuse Modern Bistro, St Albans, make choori chaat and tandoori lamb chops
  • 16:00 – Harry Lumsdon of The Great Northern makes Scottish scallop, bitter orange, truffle, potato
  • 16:45 – Martin West, head chef at The Stables Restaurant at Oaklands makes sous vide cannon of lamb with cauliflower three ways
  • 17:30 – Christo Tofalli of Ye Olde Fighting Cocks shares ideas for some quick, easy, plant-based, healthy meals

 

Oaklands Farm

Climb aboard the tractor and visit the Oaklands mini farm.

You can also learn some butchery skills to help you make the most of the meat you buy:

  • 12:00 – Breaking down a chicken into portions and creating different rubs and marinades for the perfect BBQ
  • 13:00 – Boning and rolling a loin of pork for the perfect Sunday roast
  • 14:00 – Prepping chicken breasts into ballotines and escalopes
  • 15:00 – Prepping joints of lamb for dishes at home

We have lots of free activities to keep the children entertained including;

Charity Funfair

New for 2021! To help local charities raise vital funds, after the tough few years of fundraising, we are introducing the charity funfair.

Get your ‘£1 a go’ token form the token booth and support your local charities by playing the funfair games! All proceeds go to the local charities supporting the event on the day: Homestart Herts, St Albans Food Bank, Hills Herts, Earthworks, Open Door and Communities 1st.

Games include: Tin Can Alley, Bootle Hoopla, Hock a Duck, Coconut Shy, Pancake flipping Challenge, Hungry Hippo Inflatable.

 

Community Safe Zone

A place to meet your community, have a chat and escape the crowds.

If its getting a little busy, you need a comfy seat or fancy a friendly chat this is the place to go and you can find it in the dome yellow marquee at the end of the taxi rank.

COVID Information

The event site has been extended to the high street and around by the Alban Arena to allow for more room at the event. Key touch points on the site will be electrostatically spray with persistent solution before the event opens and cleaners will be roaming the event site all day. There will be multiple sanitation stations around with hand sanitiser and free disposable face masks for the public to use. The event is free to attend but we ask to protect others in your community that you do not attend if you feel unwell or have been advised to isolate.
