The market is steeped in History with a special Royal Charter granted in 1553. However, the market is well documented as far back as the 9th century. The current day market is firmly established in the city centre and runs the length of St Peters Street offering an excellent shopping experience to complement the established retail stores.
There is a food section of the market between Caffé Nero and Reiss in Market Place. There are stalls selling hot and cold food, sweet and savoury bakeries and other items of street food. Browse over 160 stalls on the market whilst enjoying tasty treats!
The Christmas Charter Market runs a market every day in the week up to Christmas, right through to Christmas Eve. Festively dressed stalls, silly outfits and carolling welcome!
The market opens once stalls have been set up and traders have arrived (times may vary)
Closure times are subject to sales and stock levels
