St Albans Traditional Street Market
The St Albans Market is widely renowned as one of the best in the area, and the quality of products and produce available has won many awards.
*** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ***
From August the Charter Market has extended its footprint to allow for as many traders as possible to have a stall while allowing for the necessary social distancing measures. Some traders have been displaced from their usual spots – so be sure to check out new areas of the market around the Alban Arena and down to High Street for Charter Market Fringe.

*******************************************************************************
The market is steeped in History with a special Royal Charter granted in 1553. However, the market is well documented as far back as the 9th century. The current day market is firmly established in the city centre and runs the length of St Peters Street and Market Place offering an excellent shopping experience to compliment the established retail stores.
There is a food section of the market between Caffé Nero and Reiss in Market Place. There are stalls selling hot and cold food, sweet and savoury bakeries and other items of street food. Browse over 160 stalls on the market whilst enjoying tasty treats!
The market opens once stalls have been set up and traders have arrived (times may vary)
Closure times are subject to sales and stock levels
There are monthly Farmers Markets in St Albans and Harpenden. Find out more here.
