#SpotlightOn Sally-Anne Shepherd of Eve & Adam Beauty Clinic

Bringing experience, innovation and impeccable service to St Albans is boutique beauty clinic Eve & Adam

Established in 2003 by founder Sally-Anne Shepherd, this independent beauty clinic, with the mantra ‘to make all clients feel fabulous – whatever the treatment!’, brings the best in skin care and beauty treatments to St Albans. We caught up with Sally to find out more about her thriving boutique business.

Why did you choose St Albans to open Eve & Adam?

St Albans is a great town and although I was not born here, I moved here in my early twenties and haven’t looked back. It’s great, there are so many independent shops as it gives the city real personality and makes the high street interesting and unique. St Albans has a great atmosphere, it’s an amazing place to live.

What is your role at Eve & Adam?

I am founder and company director, so I oversee the running of the business, including marketing, recruitment and purchasing. However, you’ll also find me in the clinic doing treatments and therapies as I really enjoy seeing clients. I have known many of them for years.

What inspired you to set up the clinic?

I was looking for a lifestyle business. As a single mum, I wanted a job which would give me flexibility so I could spend more time with my daughter, but it didn’t quite work out like that! The first five years were crazy, but I wouldn’t change it for the world and am proud of how far I’ve come.

What are the secrets to your success?

Our team are all senior therapists with at least five years’ experience – in fact, between us we have over 70 years’ experience! Everyone knows exactly what they are doing, and we get many customer recommendations. I am a big believer in staying up to date with products and procedures, so the therapists benefit from regular training to maintain high standards. I attend tradeshows and am always looking for new ideas so I can keep the business moving forward in the world of skincare.

Tell us more about your location on Catherine Street

There is a great little community on Catherine Street. There are cafes, restaurants, a charity book shop and lots of independents which offer a diverse shopping experience. We all know each other well and many of our neighbours have been here just as long, or longer than us.

What treatments do you offer?

We offer the full range of beauty treatments, including manicures, pedicures, waxing, massage and advanced skin care such as skin peels, micro-needling, laser hair removal, laser facials, anti-wrinkle treatments and more.

Treatments for men are also available such as cleansing and anti-ageing facials, hair removal, massages, pedicures and manicures. With weddings back on the agenda we have bridal packages which include preparation packages to de-stress before the big day and wedding day make-up packages where an expert stylist will make the bride look stunning on her special day.

Christmas is coming, do you have any gift ideas?

Yes! We offer gift cards from £30 upwards which you can purchase online, on the website or in the clinic. When it comes to make-up gifts, one of my favourites brands is Jane Iredale The Skincare Makeup® as all products are clean, natural and vegan. We have loads of stocking filler ideas such as Flexiskin skin tools, nourishing lip balms by Albus & Flora plus great products to rejuvenate tired feet.

What treatments do you recommend for the Christmas party season?

A gel nail manicure will see you through the festive season and add sparkle, or a pedicure to help party feet look stylish. A relaxing facial or massage is always a welcome treat at the end of the year after all the festive fun. Christmas is one of our busiest times and appointments are already filling up so it’s best to book early. We know it’s going to be busy, but the team are really looking forward to giving our clients top treatments so that when they leave the clinic, they look fabulous!
