Halloween in St Albans: Spooky Events & Festive Fun

As the leaves turn golden and the nights grow longer, St Albans transforms into a hub of Halloween excitement. With its rich history, ancient streets, and atmospheric landmarks, the city provides the perfect backdrop for a memorable Halloween. Whether seeking family-friendly activities, spine-chilling scares, or simply a taste of autumnal magic, St Albans has something for everyone.

Haunted History Tours

St Albans is renowned for its Roman heritage and medieval architecture, making it an ideal setting for ghost walks and haunted tours. Local guides lead visitors through shadowy alleyways and historic sites, sharing tales of restless spirits and eerie happenings. Pumpkin Picking 

No Halloween is complete without a pumpkin. Several farms around St Albans open their fields for pumpkin picking, offering a fun day out for families. The Pop Up Farm near Harpenden are hosting day and night events for children and adults! At the Pumpkin Festival, enjoy lots of family fun games and interactive activities. On Thursday 23 October, they’ll be hosting a Marshmallow & Pumpkins night for all the family and for adults only –  a Moonlit Pumpkin evening on Thursday 30 October, where you can festoon-lit fun, with live music and spices apple cider. thepopupfarm.co.uk

Halloween Trail

This year, St Albans City Centre BID have organised a unique Pumpkin trail. Hidden across the city centre, you’ll find 12 spooky model pumpkins built from plastic bricks. The Brick Pumpkin Halloween Trail challenges mini ghost hunters to find all the pumpkins. Collect trail maps from the Museum + Gallery. Free to take part. 18 October – 2 November. Spooky Cinema Nights

For film fans, enjoy classic horror movies and family favourites throughout October at The Odyssey Cinema.
