Post Lockdown Beauty Boost

Christmas is just around the corner and we’re all in need of a pick me up with Lockdown playing havoc on our skin. Being stuck indoors, with little fresh air, dry central heating, increased stress, and mask-wearing are all big factors that contribute to dry, congested, and dull skin.

Help is at hand! The experts at Prestige Medical Beauty, in the Village Arcade, St Albans, have put together some top tips and treatment ideas to get you glowing and feeling great.

What can people do to immediately improve skin quality?

1. Double cleanse the skin to take make-up off with a cream cleanser and then wash the face with a gentle foam wash, using a cloth.

2. For breakouts try fresh aloe vera by cutting the leaves open and scooping the “juice” out. Slather on to the face, leave for an hour and then wash off with a clean, hot cloth. If you have small lumps under the skin and your skin is looking dull Cera Ve SA Smoothing Cleanser which contains Salyclic Acid is a good budget option.

3. Avoid using Retinols, they are fantastic but if overused, especially at the moment when we are stuck inside with our dry heating, our skin will dry out. So, if your skin is feeling tight and if it’s looking a bit red and you use them cut them back to using maybe every second or third day.

Any tips to reduce puffy eyes?

The eye area is always a talking point in the clinic, it’s a difficult area to treat, the best eye cream I recommend is Neo Strata – pricey but worth it. To try to reduce puffiness with clean hands gently press with the flat pad of the tip of the middle finger starting under the eye in the inner corner slowly pressing along the eye socket toward the outer eye to drain any excess fluid.

Does alcohol impact the skin?

Try to cut down on alcohol, I know i can hear you tut and eyeball roll or at least drink plenty of water the day before and water through the night or day when you are consuming alcohol, your skin will thank you for it later. It’s the dehydration that makes you look in the mirror morning after the night before and think, ‘what’s happened!’. Try a hyaluronic drenched sheet mask, like our Pure Cliniccare one that also has anti-inflammatory properties to sooth the skin.

What treatments can people book in for before Christmas?

We have created some lovely facial treatments that help freshen, boost and plump the skin. Including:

Post Lockdown Overhaul – Decongesting Facial with a dermaplane £95

This treatment starts with a double cleanse with hot cloths, a dermaplane to get rid of dead skin and facial fluff. Next (my favourite part) we then use our facial steamer to open pores and extract any blackheads, remove milia and squeeze any spots that can be done without causing any damage to the skin. We then use an enzyme peel to slough off any remaining dead skin on the surface and make the skin super smooth. Next up our facial machine which helps plump and lift the face using a vitamin c gel mask. Next we use our Skin Booster containing, Epidernal Growth Factor, anti-oxidants, amino acids and a small amount of glycolic acid and finally we use our Pure Sheet Mask to sooth and hydrate the skin.

Santa Baby Skin Dermaplane – Tighten, refresh and Glow £65

This is a double cleanser with hot cloths, we go over the entire face twice with the dermaplane treatment, again next up is the enzyme peel to leave skin so smooth and soft, a Vitamin C gel mask is then applied, followed by our Skin Booster help encourage the new skin cells to be at their best and finally our Refresh Sheet Mask, made of synthetic Snake serum and drenched in hyaluronic acid.

Do you offer any at home treatments?

We also have at home face treats based on in Clinic treatments for those that can’t or don’t feel comfortable yet to come to the clinic.

Light it up-Breakout/Pigmentation/Tight and Refresh £75- LED Based

Fantastic for everyone! The enzyme peel gets rid of dead skin to enable the LED light to penetrate deeper. The red light will stimulate collagen, the blue targets breakouts and the yellow helps even out skin tone. There are 3x options for the sheet mask too, Refresh is a

synthetic snake serum which will tighter the skin, this is an amazing mask. The Pure is to soothe skin that is suffering from breakouts and the Glow Mask is just what it says to even skin tone and give your skin a GLOW.

LED Face mask, one enzyme peel, sheet mask, lip and eye cream, Cliniccare Facewash.

Plump and tighten £55 – Microneedling Based

This is great for people that are wanting to lift and rejuvenate their face. The Jade stones will tighten and lift the facial muscles while the Roller will stimulate collagen to plump up the skin for a more youthful appearance.

Gui Sha Jade stone set, Microneedle Roller 0.30, one enzyme peel, Pure Sheet Mask, Cliniccare Facewash.
