Make the most of the great outdoors on your visit to St Albans. The city has an abundance of parks and safe spaces to walk, cycle and jog and many popular walking routes for all abilities so start exploring!
Take your pick of our spectacular parks including Verulamium Park just steps from the city centre with over 100 acres of parkland, a Roman themed playground, café and a splash park in summer. Or maybe take a stroll around pretty Clarence Park with its colourful flower beds, secluded benches and historic bandstand just a 5-minute walk from St Albans City Railway Station. Highfield Park is a real delight with mature trees, football fields, woods and even a maze the kids will love.
Heartwood Forest and Nomansland Common offer huge expanses of space, nature and trees just a short drive from the city centre, perfect to relax and rejuvenate.
There are many walking trails to suit all abilities and ranging in duration. Nearby towns and villages including Harpenden and Wheathampstead boast wonderful trails too so include a visit here if you are staying a few days. In a city located so close to wonderful countryside you won’t have to go far to enjoy scenery at its best.
