Cook your way around the County

Becky Alexander is perhaps best known for her Local Foodie column each fortnight in the Herts Advertiser. In her latest book, The Hertfordshire Cookbook, she takes us on a tour of some of the County’s best and most distinctive producers, shopkeepers, restaurateurs, publicans, cafe owners and chefs. She gives us a little bit of the story behind each of these businesses, and each chapter has a recipe to accompany it – illustrated with some beautiful photography by Paul Gregory. So if you fancy finding out the secrets of The Pudding Stop’s popular baked cookie dough, or you want to find out why Charlie’s coffee is such a sensory delight, you can find it all here.

We have five copies of Becky’s book to give away…. for your chance to get your hands on one of them, simply leave a comment under the COOKBOOK GIVEAWAY post on the Food and Drink Instagram or Facebook posts. If you do not have access to social media, you may send an email to with the words ‘Cookbook Giveaway’ as the subject heading.

Alternatively, you can get hold of a copy of the book at Books on the Hill, St Albans or direct from Meze Publishing.
